SykoActive News Updates

Grand Rising Ladies and Gentleman, this is SykoActive News brought to you by Grant Lane. The latest states to join us on our quest for consciousness freedom are Florida and New Jersey, who have taken the next steps in clinical trials of entheogens. Oregon also just officially decriminalized all drugs and replaced jail time with a $100 fine for public possession or intoxication, along with a health assessment for addiction and mental health issues, which seems like a healthier step in the right direction.

In response to the massive leap in psychedelic clinical trials from 2017-2020, by very well respected institutions such as Imperial; Johns Hopkins University; University of California, Berkeley; and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, as well as the most recent legislative actions in favor of entheogens, Psychedelics have now become the hot new investment trend on Wall Street as billionaire entrepreneur Peter Thiel led a $125 million investment into Compass Pathways, focused on psychedelic therapies.

Commercial Interests of Entheogens were resparked in the late 90’s when researchers re-explored the biological effects of psychedelics using neuroimaging techniques such as positron emission tomography, before and after volunteers entheogen use. The studies showed similarities in brain response to psychedelics such as psilocybin, LSD, and DMT, the active ingredient in ayahuasca, as well as mescaline, the psychedelic compound derived from peyote cactus. These natural compounds all act on the Pineal Glands serotonin receptors, responsible for balancing and controlling one’s mood. As a vital biological compound, Serotonin is a predominant class of psychiatric drugs all its own, which are known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. The Nueroscience community now believes that these antidepressants work not by flooding the brain with the neurotransmitter, as was initially assumed, but by stimulating neuroplasticity and the brain’s ability to forge new neural connections, which is quite a REVELATIONARY finding and significant change in medical philosophy, in essence proving that these compounds are repairing neurological pathways and healing our brains, allowing our body’s to more fully heal themself.       Clinical studies have also suggested, unsurprisingly to anyone who has tried psychedelics, that the biological effects work best when in concert with human guidance and touch, as well as at concerts. At the point of hearing that, Peter Thiel then went to patent the process of holding hands, literally, which I have to give him props on because it was actually a super tough year to pull that one off, as well as patent soft cushy furniture, which I think la-zy boy already had us all beat on, not too lazy now huh? As well as an additional 20 more common psychotherapy techniques. To be quite honest I think we’ve gone way overboard on the patent process in general and I think it should be a crime to actually patent hand holding…on a real note. Really don’t think we should even be able to patent health but that’s just my professional opinion. I will add that trying to patent the psychedelic therapy process is, magic mushrooms laughable, quite frankly, and perhaps one of the most idiotic American patents I think we’ve ever had, which I’m hoping is the mushroom cap that breaks the patent camels back. I think this speaks volumes for the mental health of Americans and all humanity for that matter, proving once and for all the dire need for psychedelic therapies on this planet immediately!

“According to an excited David Casmir, “There’s not many patents in the queue right now [so get em’ while there hot] but there’s going to around 5,000 in three years if I had to make a guess.”  Fortunately for the rest of us Psilocybin is a known natural compound and so cannot be patented, so I’d recommend popping some of those and coming up with some shroom patents. Gotta be a lot of those.

And Back to business…Many Economists agree with Peter Thiel’s major investment and project that the global mental health costs could soar to $16 trillion annually by 2030, with the Psychedelic market exceeding $6.8 billion by 2027 and growing to over $100 billion moving into the 2030’s. “It’s like a gold rush,” says Julie Holland, psychiatrist and author of Good Chemistry: The Science of Connection, From Soul to Psychedelics. According to Julie, “The green rush for cannabis happened over decades. But for psychedelics it’s happening over a few months.” January 27th of this year did indeed mark a true first for our world as the first psychedelic focused ETF Horizons Psychedelic was launched in Canada, signaling a profound change in the relationship between the pharmaceutical industry and time honored plant medicine remedies. This fund includes companies Revive Therapeutics, Mind Cure Health and Mydecine Innovations Group, who are capitalizing on the psychedelic revolution quickly sweeping the world.

Other leading Psychedelic companies include Mind Med (MMEDF), trading at $4 a share, which is perhaps the most well diversified company in this space so far. Mind Med has even attracted investment by Shark Tank’s Mr. Wonderful, Mr. Kevin O’Leary and recently joined forces with MindShift Compounds AG of Switzerland with clinical trials taking place in the first quarter of 2022. The two companies are focused on treating depression, addiction and mental illness, all of which are on the rise and relying on Psilocybin, LSD, MDMA, DMT, and ibogaine derivative, 18-MC to do so. Numinus Wellness of Canada is also focused on growing and extracting psilocybin for distribution at its clinics and health centers, while EHave, Field Trip Health and SEELOS Therapeutics have chosen to focus on ketamine treatments to help with PTSD, depression, suicide, anxiety and help lessen reliance on opioid pain medications.

All we are is advice in the wind so don’t take life too seriously because none of us make it out alive until we’re reborn. Thanks For listening to SykoActive News and when Tripping in Capitalism, Trip Responsibly. Respect.
