Washington Becomes Second State To Decriminalize All Drugs
Washington Representatives Lauren Davis (D) and Kirsten Harris-Talley (D) introduced Washington Bill HB 1499. This Legislature would make Washington the second state in the nation to legalize the personal use of all drugs, ranging from psychedelic mushrooms to opiates. The measure would also designate state money into treatment and community-based intervention programs, where drug users and people with mental health problems would be referred instead of being treated like a criminal and going to jail.
Florida is Next In Line To Decriminalize Psychedelics
A Florida bill would legalize magic mushrooms and give patients safe access to psychedelics for psychedelic assisted psychotherapy. The bill was introduced after similar initiatives in Oregon and Washington D.C. were passed in 2020. Grieco was proposing legal access as well as consumption of psilocybin mushrooms. In Florida, access will be limited to people with a diagnosis of a mental health condition. That would mean limited legal access to mushrooms for psychedelic assisted psychotherapy for military veterans with PTSD and terminally ill patients.
